Question

Do introns appear in processed RNA?

Open in App
Solution

Introns:

  1. Prior to the RNA molecule being translated into a protein, introns are non-coding regions of an RNA transcript or the DNA encoding it.
  2. Exons are the regions of DNA (or RNA) that contain protein-coding information.
  3. The process by which the initial transcript from a gene assumes its mature form is collectively referred to as "RNA processing."
  4. Introns, known as intervening sequences or noncoding sequences, are additional regions found in eukaryotic transcripts.
  5. They aren't found in either mature or processed RNA.
