Slime molds:

  1. Slime molds are saprophytic in nature and usually feed on dead and decaying organic matter.
  2. They are heterotrophic, thus and lack chlorophyll.
  3. Few slime molds are parasitic and are found in the roots of cabbage and other plants belong the family Brassicaceae.
  4. It has two stages in their life i.e. free-living and slug stage.
  5. Thus, Slime molds slowly creep, as they do not have any legs or appendages to move.
