Does Anabaena have a true nucleus?

Open in App
Solution

Anabaena:

  1. Anabaena is a blue-green alga which has barrel-shaped cells.
  2. It can be found in shallow water or on moist cells as planktons.
  3. Anabaena is a photosynthetic organism. It is among the four Cyanobacteria that contain chlorophylls.
  4. The cell structure of Anabaena is typically prokaryotic- one enveloped cell wall, naked DNA, and absence of membrane-bound cell organelles.
  5. No nucleus is present like in other prokaryotes, DNA lies in the central part of the cytoplasm known as the nucleoid.
  6. So, Anabaena does not have a true nucleus.
