Open in App
Solution

Seed dormancy:

  1. Seed dormancy is the delay or prevention of germination under favourable environmental conditions.
  2. Various environmental factors and genetic factors control seed dormancy.
  3. Various genetical study shows that plant hormones play important role in regulating seed germination and dormancy.

Auxins:

  1. Auxin is a plant hormone that is responsible for cell elongation and cell differentiation in plants.
  2. Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone that regulates seed dormancy.
  3. Auxin controls seed dormancy through stimulation of abscisic acid by signaling some inducing factors.
  4. So, auxin does not break seed dormancy but induces seed dormancy.
