Does Chlorenchyma help the plant to float in water?

Chlorenchyma :

  1. Parenchyma cells containing chloroplasts are collectively termed chlorenchyma in plants.
  2. It takes part in photosynthesis.
  3. Chlorenchyma tissue does not help the plant to float in water,
  4. A special type of parenchyma tissue called aerenchyma helps plants to float in water. It is present in aquatic and some land plants.
  5. Aerenchyma forms a spongy tissue that consists of air providing buoyancy to the floating plants.
  6. Example- Hydrilla, lotus, Ceratophyllum, Vallisneria, Eichhornia, etc.
