Question

Does dehiscence of anther occur longitudinally or transversely?

Open in App
Solution

Dehiscence of Anther:

  1. Meiosis occurs in microspore mother cells to form tetrads.
  2. Pollen grains' microspores are split from their tetrads.
  3. The tissues between the two microsporangia of one lobe separate to form a shared sac known as the pollen sac when these are generated in an anther.
  4. A dithecous anther forms two of these sacs.
  5. Now the anther dehisces either longitudinally, transversely, or in another manner to release the pollen.
