Dominant follicle:

1. During the menstrual cycle, when a follicle becomes enlarged to release an ovum it is called a dominant follicle.
2. It becomes ready to release the ovum ,during 14th day of the menstrual cycle.
3. The formation of a dominant follicle can be referred to as ovulation.
