  1. Gastric juice is a mixture of electrolytes which are bicarbonates, sodium, potassium, phosphate and sulfate, hydrochloric acid, water, and organic substances such as protein, mucus, and pepsin.
  2. It is rich in enzymes.
  3. Gastric juice is highly acidic in nature because of the presence of hydrochloric acid and has the potential to kill bacteria.
  4. Gastric hydrochloric acid is produced from specialized parietal cells which are located in the stomach.
