  1. Pennatula is a species of sea pen.
  2. Pennatula does not show metagenesis.
  3. Sea pens are colonial and exist in polyp forms.
  4. Cnidarians show two main body forms which are polyp and medusae. Some examples are: Polyp - Hydra and Adamsia, Medusae - Aurelia.
  5. In some cnidarians, both forms are present throughout their life cycle.
  6. The polyp form produces the medusae asexually and the medusa produces the polyp sexually. This alternation of generations is known as metagenesis.
  7. Obelia shows metagenesis.
