Spherosomes:

  1. Perner first identified spherosomes, commonly known as plant lysosomes.
  2. They are tiny cell organelles that produce and store lipids and are surrounded by a single membrane.
  3. Only plant cells contain them.
  4. They help to make and store lipids.
  5. It has granular components that are high in lipids but also contain some proteins.
  6. It can be found in most plant cells, but it's especially abundant in oil seed endosperm cells.
  7. The endoplasmic reticulum gives rise to spherosomes.
