Deuteromycetes:

  1. Another name for Deuteromycetes is anamorphic fungi or fungi Imperfecti.
  2. In Deuteromycetes, the sexual state is not defined, so they reproduce asexually by spores or by budding.
  3. This term is only used to designate a few fungal species and has less significance in fungi taxonomy.
  4. These are artificial classes of fungi and have the absence of sexual reproduction.
  5. Many anamorphic fungi are economically important because they are responsible for producing major illnesses in plants and animals as well as people.
  6. Molds of the genus Penicillium are extremely useful in medicine.

Examples Of Deuteromycetes:

Some of the examples of the Deuteromycetes are Cercospora, Colletotrichum, Trichoderma, Pyricularia, and Fusarium.

Cercospora:

  1. It's an ascomycete fungus genus.
  2. The majority of the species in this genus produce plant diseases and leaf spots.

Colletotrichum:

  1. It is a genus of fungi that live as endophytes or phytopathogens on plants.
  2. Although many species in this genus are plant pathogens.
  3. Some may have a mutualistic relationship with their hosts.

Trichoderma:

  1. It is the most common culturable fungus and belongs to the Hypocreaceae family of fungi.
  2. It may be found in all soils.
  3. Many of the species in this genus are avirulent plant symbionts that take advantage of opportunities.
