Cancer:

  1. A disease in which some cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissues.
  2. These cells can spread from one part of the body to another.

The cancers are named based on various factors:

  1. Tissue of origin- Carcinoma, sarcoma, myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma.
  2. Pathological state of tumor tissue- Grade 1(slight abnormality in cells), Grade 2 (more abnormal cells), Grade 3 (poorly differentiated cells and very abnormal), Grade 4 (immature, primitive, and undifferentiated cells).
  3. Tumor progression stage- Node involvement (N), distant metastasis (M).
