Haemophilia-A is a very common genetic disorder that occurs in 1 in 4000 males worldwide.

Haemophilia A:

  1. It is an X-linked inherited recessive trait leading to a bleeding disorder.
  2. It is caused due to the absence of blood clotting factor VIII.
  3. Women are carriers of the defective gene and are not affected by it whereas boys borne by them have a 50% chance of having Haemophilia A.
  4. The risk factors of the disease include being male and having a family history of bleeding.
