Question

How do angiosperms get nutrients?

Open in App
Solution

Angiosperms:

  1. Angiosperms are plants with flowers that perform sexual reproduction and help in bearing seeds.
  2. They are vascular plants.
  3. Hence, they have xylem tissue for transferring water from underground to all the plant tissues.
  4. They also have phloem cells for transporting food and nutrients across the plant.
  5. Angiosperms make their own food using the photosynthetic process.
  6. They use sunlight, water, and photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophyll to form glucose and carbohydrates.
  7. The nutrients and water are transferred via xylem and phloem by the transpiration pull.
  8. The transpiration pull is caused by the evaporation process of the sun's heat.
