How do bacteria use cilia to get food?

Open in App
Solution

Cilia:

  1. Cilia are hair-like projections present outside the cell.
  2. Cilia helps in the locomotion process.
  3. Cilia can also be present inside of the organs for moving the fluid surrounding it.
  4. Bacteria do not have cilia.
  5. Cilia are mostly found on mammalian cells.
  6. Hence, bacteria cannot use cilia to get food, instead, they act as decomposers to derive their food from dead and decaying organic matter.
  7. Some bacteria are photosynthetic, hence producing their food via photosynthetic i.e., produce carbohydrates using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide through chlorophyll.
