How do biomolecules work in our body?

Open in App
Solution

Biomolecules

Biomolecules are chemical molecules that are used for growth and development in living organisms.

In living organisms, there are four major groups of biomolecules:

  1. Lipids - Cell membranes are made up of these components. Aside from that, they're involved in energy storage, cellular communication, and cell insulation.
  2. Protein - Enzymes and hormones are both made up of proteins. Hormones are involved in metabolism, growth, and development, whereas enzymes regulate different biological functions.
  3. Carbohydrates - Carbohydrates are the building blocks of macromolecules and give energy.
  4. Nucleic Acid - They are made up of genetic material.

These molecules build our bodies and maintain the processes in our bodies.
