Question

How do cnidarian excrete waste?

Open in App
Solution

Cnidaria:

  1. Cnidaria is a phylum of invertebrates in the animal kingdom. This is also called Coelenterata.
  2. These animals are well known for the special structure found in their body, called Cnidoblast.
  3. Cnidoblasts have stinging tentacles with nematocyst. This nematocyst helps them to catch the prey.
  4. Sea pen, jellyfish and sea anemones are some examples of this phylum.
  5. The members of Coelenterata are aquatic, so they excrete the body waste directly through the body surface.
  6. As they belong to a lower phylum of the animal kingdom, they lack different organ systems like excretory, digestive, and others.
