Hemichordates:

  1. Animals belonging to this phylum are marine and deuterostome.
  2. They partly resemble the chordates and they have got their names, hemichordates.
  3. Hemichordates are commonly known as acorn worms.
  4. They have a stomochord instead of a notochord.
  5. They have no post-anal tail and possess an open circulatory system.
  6. Examples- Balanoglossus, Saccoglossus.

Reproduction in hemichordates:

  1. Hemichordate animals are dioecious which means they have separate sexes.
  2. They reproduce by both sexual and asexual means.
  3. In sexual reproduction, these animals release their sperm and egg into the water where fertilization takes place.
  4. In asexual reproduction, they reproduce through budding.
