How do people inherit genes?

Open in App
Solution

Inheritance of genes:

  1. Genes simply refer to the physical and functional unit of heredity that is made up of DNA sequences.
  2. Usually, people possess two copies of each chromosome among which one gets inherited from the mother and another is inherited from the father.
  3. Like chromosomes, each gene also has two copies.
  4. At the time of gamete formation, each chromosome is passed from the parents to offspring and so the genes and the particular trait are introduced in the daughter cell.
  5. In this way, we get all the genes inherited from our parents.
