Spermatocytogenesis:

  1. The process of producing sperms is known as spermatogenesis.
  2. The four stages of spermatogenesis include spermatocytogenesis, meiosis I, meiosis II, and spermiogenesis.
  3. The spermatogonia (immature cells) are present on the inside of the seminiferous tubules during spermatocytogenesis, and they multiply through equational division during mitosis
  4. Each diploid spermatogonia has 46 chromosomes and is a spermatogonia.
  5. Some spermatogonia change as they grow and increase in size by gathering and assimilating the nourishing substances.
  6. These spermatogonia are known as primary spermatocytes
  7. While some on the other hand do not grow and increase in size and are left behind, they are known as spermatogonia.
  8. There is no other difference in length of chromosome and DNA content in spermatogonia and primary spermatocytes.
  9. Therefore, primary spermatocytes differ from spermatogonium in terms of size and volume.
