How do you reset your hormones?

Open in App
Solution

Hormonal imbalance:

  1. A hormonal imbalance happens when there is too much, or too little of body's chemical messengers called hormones.
  2. It can be caused due to puberty, pregnancy, menopause, stress, steroid use, damage or injury to an endocrine gland, or even tumors.

Ways to balance your hormones:

  1. Engage in regular exercise - Physical activity improves blood flow to your muscles and enhances the delivery of nutrients and hormone signals
  2. Maintain a healthy moderate weight - Weight gain has shown to impair the sensitivity of insulin and deteriorate reproductive health.
  3. Eat a balanced diet - Diet with adequate protein, high fiber, healthy fats and low sugar intake will help balance out hormones.
  4. Control stress - Stress leads to production of stress hormone - cortisol, whose elevated levels will impair hormonal systems.
  5. Get high quality sleep - Poor sleep has shown to lead to many hormonal imbalances, including insulin, cortisol, leptin, ghrelin, and HGH
  6. Most cases can be treated with prescription medication or even over-the-counter medication.
