Open in App
Solution

Diffusion

  1. The process of the movement of molecules along the concentration gradient is called diffusion.
  2. In the human body, diffusion helps in gaseous exchange and filtering out wastes from the blood in the kidneys.
  3. During respiration, diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs both at the alveolar level and at the tissue level.
  4. In the lungs, oxygen diffuses from the alveoli to the blood while carbon dioxide diffuses from the blood to the alveoli.
  5. At the tissue level, oxygen diffuses from blood to the tissues, while carbon dioxide diffuses from tissues to the blood.
  6. The pair of kidneys filter out wastes from the blood.
  7. Nitrogenous substances, salts, and other impurities diffuse from the blood to the filtrate flowing through the renal tubules for excretion.
