Enzyme
An enzyme is a biological catalyst.
It lowers the activation energy of a reaction.
When an enzyme (E) binds to a substrate (S), an intermediate short-lived enzyme-substrate (ES) complex is formed.
This is followed by the formation of a short-lived enzyme product (EP) complex.
From the EP complex, finally the enzyme and product are released.
An enzyme facilitates the bond formation and bond breaking.
