How does estrogen affect blood clotting?
Open in App
Solution
Estrogen
Estrogen hormone increases the transcription of various genes involved in blood clotting.
It increases the concentration of plasma fibrinogen.
It also increases the concentration of clotting factors VII and X, and antithrombin III.
Thus, by affecting the concentration of various factors and proteins, estrogen indirectly affects blood clotting.
However, it does not cause blood clotting directly.
