How does the guard cell differ from the epidermal cell?

Guard cell:

  1. Guard cells are specialised plant cells that regulate the gas exchange in the epidermis of leaves, and stems.
  2. They are generated in pairs, with a stomatal pore forming the gap between them.

Epidermal cell:

  1. The epidermis of plants is made up of numerous types of cells called epidermal cells.
  2. They perform a variety of vital roles, their major job is to guard against a variety of damaging elements (environmental stressors), such as microorganisms, chemical substances, and UV light.
