Solution

Recovery of biomass:

  1. Biomass comprises of mass of all living organisms.
  2. Biomass is known as the total organic matter (carbon-based).
  3. Steam and pressure are used to separate the municipal solid wastes and other dry wastes, via this biomass is recovered.
  4. Shaker screens are used where the biomass falls or settles down by passing the separated soil wastes moved through it.
  5. The remaining waste scrap is sent to the landfills and the recovered biomass is further used for different purposes.
  6. About 80%-90% can be recovered through the above-described process.
