Question

How is double-stranded RNA formed?

Open in App
Solution

Formation of dsRNA:

  1. Double-strand RNA is a signal that expresses in the silence of a specific gene in some organisms.
  2. It possesses two complementary strands like a DNA molecule.
  3. During viral replication, a newly synthesized complementary RNA and the template RNA form intra-molecular structures together.
  4. If both the RNA strands contain a loop in their structures at the same position, then the loop associate and form a partial ds-RNA.
  5. Upon completion of replication, full-length ds-RNA is formed.
