Question

How many phenotypes are possible in codominance?

Open in App
Solution

Codominance:

In terms of genetics, codominance is a sort of inheritance in which two distinct expressions (alleles) of the same gene result in distinct features in a person.
Phenotypes:

  1. The term "phenotype" describes a person's observable characteristics, such as height, eye color, and blood type.
  2. The genomic make-up (genotype) of an individual as well as environmental influences affect their phenotypic.
  3. In codominance, there are two possible phenotypes.
  4. When both alleles at a gene locus are completely expressed in the phenotype, it is known as codominance, which is a heterozygous state.
  5. Both phenotypes are partially dominant in codominance.
