Solution

Antibiotic resistance:

  1. The main cause of antimicrobial resistance is the increased use of antibiotics.
  2. With such a increased use of antibiotics, several bacteria become resistant.
  3. This gives them a chance to survive and multiply and leading to a person being more prone to infections.
  4. Microbes have tendency to divide in every few hours.
  5. They mutate rapidly and acclimatize to the new environmental conditions.
  6. During the division, mutations occurs in some of the microbes, making them resistant to the antimicrobial agents.
  7. Bacteria with antimicrobial-resistant DNA transfer its genes to the non-resistant bacteria.
