Parasite:

  2. It depends on the host for either food, minerals, shelter, etc.

Basidiomycota:

  1. These are the most advanced fungi.
  2. They form a fruiting body known as basidiocarp.
  3. The spores produced during sexual reproduction are known as basidiospores.
  4. The mycelium is septate.
  5. They are both unicellular and multicellular.
  6. Examples include Puccinia graminis, Agaricus, Ustilago, etc.
  7. Some members are parasitic such as Puccinia graminis which causes rust in wheat, Ustilago tritici which causes smut in wheat, etc.

Therefore, some members of Basidiomycota are parasitic in nature.
