Black soil is usually clayey, deep and impermeable. They swell greatly and become sticky when wet in the rainy season, and shrinks and develops wide cracks during dry season.
Chernozems is a black colored soil rich in nutrients due to a high percentage of humus, phosphoric acids, phosphorus and ammonia.
This soil is formed from rocks of cretaceous lava.
