These changes are due to gene movements rather than mutations and natural selection.
The transfer of alleles in and out of gene pools takes place purely due to gene migration.
It occurs when organisms move into and out of a population.
Genetic Drift:
Genetic drift is the mechanism in which there are the alleles’ frequencies of a population change due to random sampling from one generation to another.
Basically, it happens due to random changes in allele frequencies that result in the disappearance of some genes from small populations due to dying or not carrying out reproduction.
Ultimately genetic drift causes less genetic diversity and variation in populations.
Also, it causes the disappearance of some gene variants completely from the populations.
Alteration of the allele frequencies of a population takes place due to random sampling.
Therefore, No genetic drift is not the same as genetic migration.
