Dioecious plants:
- Dioecious plants have male and female flowers in different plants.
- Thus they produce either male or female gametes.
- Examples of dioecious plants are asparagus and papaya.
Maize as a monecious plant:
- Maize is a monoecious plant because it bears both male and female flowers on the same plant.
- The male flowers are present on the top of the plant.
- The female flowers are halfway down, on the sides of the plant.
