Endosperm:

  1. It is a tissue that surrounds and nourishes the seed.

Rice:

  1. In rice, the endosperm stays as a permanent tissue and later becomes the permanent part of the seed.
  2. When the seed germinates the food stored in the endosperm is utilized by the embryo.
  3. The endosperm is the largest part of the rice grain.
  4. It is found as a storage tissue.
  5. It helps the rice seed to store food and maintain the hydration level of the seed during germination.
  6. As rice has food stored inside it, it is called an endospermic seed.
