“Saheli” is an oral contraceptive pill that has a very high contraceptive value with little side effects. It is taken once a week by females to avoid pregnancy.

It's not an IUD and hence option a is incorrect.

It is a non-steroidal contraceptive pill developed by the scientists of Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow.

As it is a non-steroidal pill, it is considered safe. The biochemical centchroman in the pill blocks estrogen receptors in the uterus. This alters the lining of the uterus which prevents the fertilised ovum from implantation without disturbing the hormonal balance.

It does not prevent ovulation but rather prevents implantation, the key step in pregnancy.
