Solution

The correct option is C ligaments attached to the ciliary body
The wall of the human eyeball has three layers:
  • SCLERA: The outermost external layer composed of dense connective tissue is called the sclera. The anterior portion of sclera is called the cornea.
  • CHOROID: The middle layer choroid is rich in blood vessels and looks bluish in colour. It is a thin layer over the posterior two-thirds of the eyeball but becomes thicker anteriorly to form the ciliary body. A transparent crystalline lens in the eyeball is held in place by ligaments attached to the ciliary body. Human eye focuses light by changing the focal length of the lens. The ciliary body continues forward to form the visible coloured portion of the eye, the iris. Iris is a pigmented and opaque structure.
  • RETINA: The innermost layer called retina consists of photoreceptor cells, the rods and cones.
