Solution

Urochordates:

  1. Urochordata is a subphylum of chordates that are small marine animals containing larvae that swim freely.
  2. Urochordate adults can attach themselves to the ocean floor.
  3. Urochordates are also known tunicates.
  4. They differ from Cephalochordata and Vertebrata in the adult form as it has no notochord, nerve cord, or tail.
  5. Their embryo contains the same characteristics as that of chordates: notochord, nerve cord, slits in the beginning of the digestive tract that allow filter feeding and gas exchange; and a postanal tail.
  6. Ascidia, Salpa, Doliolum are examples of urochordates.
