Question

What are 2 types of cell transport?

Open in App
Solution

Cell transport:

  1. Movement of substances across the cell membrane is referred as cell transport.

Types of cell transport:

  1. Active Transport:
    1. This is a biological process in which the molecules move against the concentration gradient and require chemical energy to move biochemical compounds from the lower to a higher concentration region.
    2. Therefore, the process uses ATP – Adenosine triphosphate to pump the molecules.
  2. Passive Transport:
    1. In the said biological process, energy is not required for transporting molecules, as the biochemicals move from the region of higher concentration to region of lower concentration.
    2. All the particles which are easily soluble are transported by a passive transport.
    3. This process is carried out to maintain balance and equilibrium level in a cell.
