Adipose tissue:

1. Adipose tissue are the connective tissue that mainly contains fat cells (adipocytes) that specialized to synthesize and contain large globules of fat, within a structural network of fibres.
2. It is predominately found under the skin but also deposits in between the muscles, in the intestines, and around the heart. It is also found in the bone marrow, where it imparts a yellow color.
3. In humans, the distribution of adipose tissue in the body can vary depending on their sex. In general, men accumulate fat around the waist and women tend to pile up more fat around the hips than the waist.
4. The Adipose tissue stores, synthesizes, and metabolizes fat molecules liberating them for metabolism during fasting.
5. It also acts as a shock absorber around kidneys and eyeballs.
