Brain waves:

  1. Brain waves are the rhythmic variations in potential between different parts of the brain that can be seen on an EEG (electroencephalogram – a test that detects electrical activity within the brain using metal discs).
  2. The electroencephalogram is used to locate electrodes within the scalp in order to detect live brain waves.
  3. Brain waves are essential evidence of your brain's electrical activity.
  4. A wave-like pattern is created when a group of neurons sends a burst of electrical pulses to another group of neurons.
  5. These waves are now measured in cycles per second, which we refer to as the Hertz (Hz).

The different types of brainwaves are –

  1. Alpha
  2. Beta
  3. Theta
  4. Delta
