Muscae volitantes is another term for floaters.
They are deposits in the ordinarily transparent vitreous humor of the eye, varying in form and size, refractive index, consistency, and motility.
Floaters float in the vitreous humor, which is a gel or viscous fluid that fills the eye.
As a result, it tends to follow rapid eye movement while drifting slowly in this fluid.
