Solution

Extinction:

  1. It is the process by which various species die so that they are not present on earth anymore.
  2. It results in the loss of biodiversity.

Causes of extinction:

The reason includes:

  1. Habitat loss and fragmentation: It includes the reasons that either destroy the natural habitat of these organisms or pollute it.
  2. Overexploitation: many species have been hunted and used by animals for their own need.
  3. Due to over-harvesting these species become endangered and are the reason for the extinction of many species.
  4. Alien species invasion: these are the species that are not found naturally in an area and are introduced.
  5. These species generally invade the whole area and cause the decline of indigenous species.
  6. Coextinction: organisms in nature are usually having associations with other organisms.
  7. Some in facultative and some in an obligatory way.
  8. So when a species becomes extinct the obligatory species depending on that also become extinct.
