Solution

Nucleus:

  1. It is a double membrane-bound organelle that contains an organism's genetic material.
  2. It is present only in eukaryotic organisms.
  3. It regulates cell functions such as protein synthesis and cell division.

Parts of the nucleus:

The nucleus is made up of various components:

  1. Nuclear envelope: It is made up of 2 lipid layers and has pores in between.
  2. Nuclear lamina: It lies between the inner nuclear membrane and the chromatin's periphery and is made up of lamins and lamin-associated proteins
  3. Nucleolus: The nucleolus is a spherical structure in the nucleus of a cell that is responsible for producing and assembling the cell's ribosomes. Ribosomal RNA genes are also transcribed in the nucleolus.
  4. Nucleoplasm: It is the matrix of the nucleus in which the materials are suspended and is bounded by nuclear membrane.
