Solution

Digestive System

  1. The digestive system is made up of the mouth, pharynx (throat), oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus.
  2. Salivary glands, the liver, gallbladder, and the pancreas are also included since they produce digestive juices and enzymes that aid the body in breaking down food and liquids.
  3. Our digestive system disintegrates nutrients into smaller pieces so that the body may use them for energy production, cell growth, and repair.

5 stages of the Digestive System:

  1. Ingestion – Consumption of food.
  2. Digestion – The process by which food is mechanically and chemically broken down so that it can be used by the body
  3. Absorption – The digestive tract's epithelial cells absorb nutritional molecules, which are then transported to the lymph and blood.
  4. Compaction – Consolidation of indigestible leftovers into faeces after water absorption
  5. Defecation – The removal of faeces.
