What are the effects of ozone depletion on plants?

Open in App
Solution

Ozone Depletion:

  1. The ozone layer protects the Earth's surface from damaging UV rays.
  2. The continuous shrinking of the earth's ozone layer in the upper atmosphere is known as ozone layer depletion.
  3. It has negative consequences for human health, wildlife, the environment, and marine life.
  4. Plants are harmed by ozone, which enters leaf holes known as stomata and oxidises (burns) plant tissue during respiration.
  5. It may result in reduction in plant development, decreased leaf size, blooming, and photosynthesis in plants, as well as lower-quality human harvests.
