Different forms of water in soil:

  1. Gravitational water, free water, hygroscopic water, capillary water, and chemically mixed water are all types of water found in the soil.
  2. Water that flows freely and is not held by the earth is known as free water.
  3. Thin coats of water around soil particles are known as hygroscopic water.
  4. Gravitational water - seeps into the earth's deeper layers.
  5. Capillary water makes up 75% of the total amount of water available to plants.
