3. After a few milliseconds, it forces the ventricles to contract, overcoming the resistance of the semilunar valves and providing enough hydrostatic pressure for blood circulation through the systemic and pulmonary pathways.
4. It causes both atria to contract simultaneously, providing enough hydrostatic pressure to open both AV valves, allowing blood to flow into the ventricles.
