Question

What are the steps of pulmonary circulation?

Open in App
Solution

Pulmonary circulation: It is the type of circulation where the unoxygenated and oxygenated blood is circulated in the lungs and heart, this occurs in the heart and lungs where pulmonary refers to lungs. This process mainly converts deoxygenated blood to oxygenated blood.

The steps involved in the pulmonary circulation are as follows:

  1. From the right atrium (right article) in the heart where the deoxygenated blood is pumped through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle of the heart.
  2. Then the deoxygenated blood is pumped from the right ventricle to the pulmonary trunk through the pulmonary valve.
  3. This deoxygenated blood is pumped into the lungs from the pulmonary valve.
  4. In the lungs, the deoxygenated blood is purified into oxygenated blood where the carbon dioxide is released.
  5. Finally, the oxygenated blood return to the heart through pulmonary veins where it is pumped all over the body.
