What are the symptoms of high creatinine levels?

Open in App
Solution

Creatinine:

  1. It is the product of protein metabolism formed during the breakdown of muscle cells.
  2. This creatinine is filtered by the kidney from the blood as its presence in blood indicates abnormal functions of the kidney.
  3. There is a normal range of creatinine in urine that is 500 to 2000 mg/day but varies according to age and gender.

The symptoms of high creatinine levels are as follows:

  1. Fatigue: Extreme tiredness due to high metabolism of protein and muscles and causes accumulation of more creatinine.
  2. Nausea: The person suffers from a heavy nauseous feeling with an inclination to vomit.
  3. Frequent urination: The person feels to urinate more frequently.
  4. Muscle cramps: Creatinine is involved in muscle energy metabolism and hence high accumulation of creatinine leads to constant muscle cramping.
