  1. They are also called coelenterates and are members of the phylum Cnidaria.
  2. Cnidarians are primarily marine animals, which include corals, hydra, jellyfish, sea anemones, etc.
  3. They are the animals whose cells are organized into tissues, but lack organs.

Two basic forms exhibited by cnidarians:

  1. Polyps: It is the tubular and sessile stage of cnidarians which can reproduce sexually and asexually to give both polyps and medusa.
  2. Medusa: It is the bell-shaped and mobile stage of cnidarians which can reproduce sexually to give rise to medusa only.
